With the release of Build And Go version 8.0.5 BETA today, the much-anticipated 8-8-08 release date for Version 8 is on schedule.

Version 8.0.5 BETA includes updates to the way that web page URLs are written:
  • We've added a feature to rewrite the web address (URL) for articles so that they are more search-engine friendly.  Google will not index pages with fewer than three characters in the file name.  To get around this, Build And Go now will automatically generate extra characters in a file name whenever it would otherwise be too few characters.
  • We have also altered the way pages are displayed to appear as though all articles are in the root directory of a website, rather than in a sprawling series of subdirectories.  The significance of this is that now a site owner can shuffle an article into another category, and any incoming links will remain accurate.
In addition to these two new features, we have smashed a series of bugs.  We are not quite ready to announce BG v8 as being completely bug-free, but it's definitely close to it!

Development Roadmap

At this stage, we predict that there will be at least one more BETA version before Build And Go is ready for prime time.  Items that need to be tackled yet are mostly cosmetic at this stage, however.  For example, we are creating a more modern-looking administration panel, cleaning up some usability concerns, and just generally making everything pretty.

Beyond that, there will be continuous, ongoing development to keep current with the latest trends and technologies.  Most importantly, we will rely on client feedback to add new features as requested.

Build And Go 8 will be an evolutionary step forward and we are excited to unleash it to the world!
