With our staff working their collective tails off, I have the privilege of announcing the release of Build And Go version 8.0.4 BETA.
Two years ago, we began work on the next version of our flagship website editor, Build And Go. Version 7 was admittedly plagued by delays and more bugs than we could shake a stick at. I never was quite comfortable releasing it for client use, and so it never saw the light of day. This winter, after agonizing and much reflection, I decided that it was a lost cause, and we scrapped the Version 7 code and started over, nearly from scratch.
Sometimes, on rare occasion, I manage to make a decision that turns out to be a good one. Hold on, folks; I think this may have been one of those anomalies!
Still undergoing internal Beta testing, Build And Go Version 8 is a true evolution from the current version 6.5. I can't even begin to list all of the improvements and new features, but here are a few highlights our clients get to look forward to:
A complete set of fun, engaging video tutorials (vidtuts) will be released before the launch date, to facilitate a smooth transition for existing and new Build And Go clients alike. These vidtuts will cover every aspect of using BG to create and maintain a successful website for your organization.
Build And Go Version 8 is scheduled (and is on track, I might add!) for a release next month--August 8, 2008, to be exact (get it, Version 8 will be released on 8-8-08. Are we clever or what? Right?!). Clients will receive the upgrade at no additional cost, and we will work with you to schedule the upgrade for your website, to minimize peak-hour downtime (of which there should be little or none).
Needless to say, we are all very excited about this upgrade, and are all but certain that you will be, too.
More to come; stay tuned!

- Multiple User Levels - allows the site owner to review and approve new pages before they become visible to the public.
- Greatly enhanced WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor - even more intuitive than before PLUS source code editing options!
- Plug in PayPal "Buy It Now" buttons into your website for do-it-yourself e-commerce on a shoestring budget.
- Create Articles, which can be organized by categories and auto-archived (similar to a blog).
- Manage Articles to allow comments by visitors (which can be moderated by you).
- Dynamic Navigation Menu is generated automatically - you choose which pages should be linked to from the menu, including sub-pages.
- New Contact Form system uses industry-standard anti-spam measures to foil automated submissions.
- Search Engine integrated with your site so users can quickly find what they are looking for, regardless of how large your site may be.
- Planned integration with HurtNews e-newsletter management - manage your site and your email marketing, all in one convenient location.
- Firefox and Mac compatible, for the first time!
